Swab Barcelona 2013, International Contemporary Art Fair, presents its sixth edition that will be held for the first time from 3 to 6 October with the double objective: adapt to the international calendar of art fairs and position itself at the beginning of the Catalan artistic season.


General Programme
Established Art galleries presenting national and international emerging artists, divided into two types of booth: 25 and 15 m2.

MYFAF Programme
Curated by Zaida Trallero and Rosa Lleó. For emerging contemporary art galleries, with less than two years of existence, who have never participated in any International Art Fair and present artists born after 1970.

5 Galleries Programme
Curated by BAR. Five international galleries under five years of existence that pay special attention to research and artistic production, as well as a long-distance collaboration with artists.

American Galleries Programme
Curated by Nestor Zonana. Eight American galleries, from the United States, Argentina, Peru, Puerto Rico, among others.

Asian Galleries Programme
A programme that will present up to 5 Asian galleries showing emerging contemporary art

Nuevas Posiciones Programme
A programme in collaboration with DKV Seguros that present Spanish galleries focusing on emergent art.

MENA Programme
A programme of 5 young galleries of the geographical area ‘MENA’ (Middle East North Africa)

Swab Barcelona incorporates in its traditional Collectors Programme both Curators and Heads of Institutions as well as other cultural agents in order to think about the present and future of the Fair. The Institut Ramon Llull collaborates in this occasion inviting directors of Museums and European Art Foundations. Hotels Cram and The Mirror, are the hotels chosen to house the collectors during the days of the Fair, which will allow our collectors to enjoy an unforgettable stay in the city of Barcelona.


Swab Stairs
Created by Kognitif and in collaboration with TMB. From 9 to 19 May were presented in five stairs to 5 Tube stations designs 5 students design schools in the city of Barcelona.

As Sun As Possible
Swab And Volkswagen collaborate again to promote young artists and designers, inviting the best national design schools to participate in this contest, which aims to design a vinyl for the new Beetle Cabrio. The winning designs were presented on the occasion of the official press conference in June at the CCCB in Barcelona.


Swab Barcelona continues with its usual awards such as the Best Gallery Award by Banco Sabadell Foundation, the Mango’s Young Artist Award and the Drawing Award by Diezy7 Collection, and features 2 new ones: the Award in Photography by Volkswagen, which will give to the MACBA Foundation the winning artwork, and the Idea Art Award by Marset.
Swab Barcelona collaborates with other international fairs like Preview Berlin and Artshow Busan in South Korea, ensuring its presence in other countries and encouraging the exchange of artists and galleries.

The provisional list of participating galleries at Swab Barcelona 2013 is now in Swab’s website. In late June will be announced the final list of participating galleries.
